About the presentation:

We live in a time where everything is available at all times, and where the automation of both dreams and actions governs much of what we do. Kjetil Røed reflects on Kristoffer Myskja's works and poses questions about the role of art in the peculiar, absurd, and frightening era we inhabit. Myskja, he believes, offers us a critical perspective on the situation, showing both our vulnerabilities and that there is no contradiction between thoughtful reflection and having a good laugh. Furthermore, he suggests that it is by standing still that we remain in motion as living, loving, and meaning-seeking beings. And that is no joke.

About Kjetil Røed: Born in 1973, Kjetil Røed is an author, editor of Billedkunst, and one of Norway's most prominent art and literary critics in recent years. He writes about film, literature, and art, and has previously contributed to Vårt Land, Aftenposten, Morgenbladet, Klassekampen, Kunstkritikk.no, Film & Kino, Vinduet, the Norwegian Shakespeare and Theatre Journal, and Le Monde Diplomatique. He has also reviewed for international publications such as Frieze, Artreview, and Artforum.com. Røed has published Dislike (Flamme Forlag, 2014), Kunsten og livet, en bruksanvisning (Flamme Forlag, 2019), and Kunsten og døden, en bruksanvisning (Res Publica, 2021).

About Kristoffer Myskja: Kristoffer Myskja is educated at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art and the National Academy of Fine Arts, Oslo. Myskja works with mechanical sculptures and installations that address issues surrounding technology, mass production, and the flow of goods, as well as how we are influenced by advertising. His works have been exhibited at Kunsthall Grenland, Porsgrunn, POST gallery in Kaunas, Lithuania, SPACE in Pittsburgh, PA, USA, Vestfossen Kunstlaboratorium, Galleri BOA, and Museum Tinguely in Basel.
