ABOUT THE CONCERT

Life is full of contrasts. After writing her latest album, Solitude, in isolation at a mountain cabin in Rondane last winter, 25-year-old Emelie Hollow is now one of seven artists interpreting each other's songs on the TV2 hit show Hver gang vi møtes (Every Time We Meet).

"No, you must have the wrong number?" That was her immediate reaction when the show's producers contacted her. Modesty is a virtue, but there's a reason they wanted her on the show: In recent years, Emelie Hollow has established herself as one of Norway's most streamed artists, both as a songwriter for others and as a performer whose voice can make an entire concert hall almost forget to breathe.

Her collaboration with Alan Walker on the song "Lily" has been streamed over three billion times; her latest album was described by Aftenposten as "instant goosebumps," and her songs are streamed an average of two and a half million times each month.

Emelie Hollow, from Vinterbro in Ås municipality, was just 12 years old when she released her first self-written song on Universal Music after winning a songwriting competition hosted by P4. This was nine years after Emelie, then just three years old, sang publicly for the first time at her cousin's christening—a performance featuring an entirely improvised song and dance.

"I was very shy as a child, so the whole thing was quite out of character, but perhaps it shows the strong need to express myself that suddenly took over."

She grew up in a house filled with music: she learned to play piano early on, later took up the cello, and also sang in a choir. Her father, who is from New Zealand, leaned towards rock and Iron Maiden, while her mother was more inclined towards classical music and the singer/songwriter tradition. Music has played a central role in Emelie's life, and in the 12 years since she wrote her first song, she has stood out for her immense musicality, her beautiful voice (described by VG as "a cross between Marit Larsen and Robyn"), and her deeply personal songs. In interviews, she has shared how she started listening to Taylor Swift early on, finding inspiration in the rawness and deep honesty of Swift's lyrics. For Emelie, knowing she wasn't alone in experiencing intense emotions as a teenager provided great comfort.

At 18, she participated in the TV show The Stream. Seven years later, she is an established artist standing strong on her own, with a unique ability to write songs that sit at the intersection of melancholy and euphoria, where the raw and stripped-down blend into the grand and orchestral. A concert with Emelie Hollow is a powerful experience—few artists can make a concert hall so silent and evoke as many goosebumps in their audience.

Over the years, she has become a sought-after songwriter, with projects in cities like Stockholm, Copenhagen, London, and Nashville. She has collaborated with numerous artists, including Dagny, Seeb, Ruben, Emma Steinbakken, Victoria Nadine, Alexander Oscar, Jesper Jenset, TIX, Skaar, and Alan Walker, to name just a few.
