Exhibition period: September 19 - December 1, 2024.

Guided tours of the exhibition every Saturday at 14:00. Free entrance.
Christian Houge is an Oslo-based photographer who has gained significant attention for his work both internationally and in Norway. Through his commitment to climate and environmental issues, Houge has established himself as a prominent voice in the Norwegian and international art scene. His photographic series and film works contribute to a deeper understanding of the complex relationships between nature, culture, and technology. His works often capture the irreversible changes occurring due to climate change that threaten global ecosystems, serving as a powerful reminder of the necessary balance between humanity and nature.

The title of the exhibition can be translated as "the age of humanity," with clear references to how human civilization has dramatically altered the Earth through various intrusive changes.

Antropo-cen consists of a selection of works from three series: Arctic Technology and The Global Seed Vault, Residence of Impermanence, and Death of a Mountain.

About Christian Houge

Christian Houge is an Oslo-based photographer who has received more international recognition for his work than in Norway. He has worked on the same environmental themes throughout his career during a time when the Earth has changed dramatically. Through his commitment to climate and environmental issues, Houge has established himself as an important voice in the national and international art scene. In Arctic Technology and the Global Seed Vault, panoramic images of Svalbard's Research Parks and the global seed vault are presented. The global seed bank contains seeds from most countries and aims to protect plant biodiversity against warming, natural disasters, and war. Houge has received several photographic awards and nominations for his environmentally-based art. He has been awarded grants from the Norwegian Artist Grant and the Arts Council. In recent years, he has been nominated multiple times for the prestigious sustainability photography award "Prix Pictet." He has held numerous solo exhibitions nationally and internationally, and his works are represented in important private and public collections both in Norway and abroad.
