Kunsthall Stavanger is proud to present the first solo exhibition by British artist Nnena Kalu outside of the UK.
Kalu is known for her large-scale sculptures, which she creates in situ. The exhibition will focus on her exploration of scale and materiality through sculptural processes.
Kalus sculptures are created through repetitive work, using materials such as textiles, paper, old VHS tapes, tape, and other plastic materials. The process is central, and through sculptural methods, she explores space, scale, and materiality through binding, layering, and wrapping materials. This ambitious exhibition features primarily new works, collectively offering an immersive visual experience.
Kalu is an artist in residence at ActionSpace, a visual arts organisation supporting artists with developmental variations across London.
Curator: Kristina Ketola Bore
The exhibition is supported by Arts Council Norway and Bergesen Foundation.
