6:30 PM: Snow and Spruce Forest – Panel discussion with Helge Kaasin, Cornelius Jakhelln, and Sebastian Jazdzewski 7:30 PM: Transilvanian Hunger – Cornelius Jakhelln on Darkthrone's legendary album

About the evening's program:

Welcome to a black metal evening at Hjemsøkt!

The first part of the program focuses on the dark and heavy genre, with Helge Kaasin's book Snow and Spruce Forest as the starting point. Unlike many other books, this one delves into black metal's literary (and to some extent visual) side. The book was part of the National Library's black metal initiative in 2023. In this context, they noted that the genre is an important part of Norway's cultural history, as it rebels against the establishment and has also become "a worldwide counterculture" (see more at www.nb.no/blackmetal).

In addition to Helge Kaasin, we have also invited author and musician Cornelius Jakhelln. The black metal panel will be led by library director Sebastian Jazdzewski.

The event is supported by the Fritt Ord Foundation.

The second part of the black metal evening at Hjemsøkt shifts focus to one of the greatest album classics in Norway's black metal history, Darkthrone's Transilvanian Hunger from 1994 (yes, 1994 wasn't just about football and the Olympics). Cornelius Jakhelln (who plays black metal in Solefald) will discuss his new book dedicated to this album.
