Jonathan Kreisberg quartet

Guitarist and composer Jonathan Kreisberg has built a strong following around the world and has influenced the next generation of musicians with his unique combination of timeless melody and forward-thinking lines and textures. He is recognized as a musician who has studied the jazz language thoroughly, while adding new ideas and expanding the guitar's possibilities.


Jonathan has led various groups of star players and acted as sideman with famous names such as Lonnie Smith, Joe Locke, Ari Hoenig, Yosvany Terry, Larry Grenadier, Bill Stewart, Gary Versace, Will Vinson, Kevin Hays, Mark Ferber, David Kikoski, Matt Penman and Martin Bejerano among others. He has released 11 critically acclaimed CDs including “The South of Everywhere”, “Shadowless”, “One” (his first solo guitar recording), “Wave Upon Wave”, “Kreisberg Meets Veras” and “Capturing Spirits - JKQ Live!”. He has received the ASCAP Plus Award annually for 16 years.


Jonathan was also a constant collaborator with NEA Jazz Master Dr. Lonnie Smith for 12 years, who said of Kreisberg: “He is a passionate musician with great vision, and he is constantly in a burning pursuit of innovation.” Jonathan worked as a performer and associate producer for Dr. Smith's recent work on Blue Note Records. He has performed works from the 20th century with the New World Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas.
Jonathan is also a respected educator with over 20 years' experience. In 2017 he published his first book of compositions and transcriptions, OFFERINGS OF NOTE, as well as a series of instructional videos called POLYRHYTHMIC GUITAR. He also founded EXPLORATIONS OF NOTE, which has become one of the most respected online music education programs for advanced players worldwide.
