In Etterklang, we meet farmer and fiddler Johs. He has taken over the large estate from the 1600s, located in the heart of Telemark, with a modern milking robot and a large-scale operation. Johs and the other characters in the book are caught between old and new times, between tradition and modern life. Agriculture plays a central role and shapes how those on the farm live their lives, even now. Then Mathilde, the substitute teacher from Oslo, moves into a house on the farm…
