Using the cello as her starting point, Mabe Fratti creates unique and beautiful soundscapes that shift between cool ambient, the dreamy, and the dramatic. She comes to Folken with her band—drums, guitar, synth, saxophone, and cello.

The distinctive musician hails from Guatemala but has long been part of Mexico City's experimental music scene, where she has collaborated with numerous musicians and released several acclaimed albums under her own name. Additionally, she has recently launched the duo Titanic and the music collective Amor Muere.

Her first solo album, Pies Sobre la Tierra, was released in 2019, and in 2022 she released the highly praised album Se Ve Desde Aquí. The album received the Best New Music label from Pitchfork, which praised Fratti's ability to combine beautiful, vocal-based songs with dreamy ambient, free jazz, and bubbling analog synths, drawing comparisons to both Arthur Russell and Kate Bush.

High praise, and Pitchfork wasn't alone, as the album has received fantastic reviews across the board, showcasing an artist who can move from chamber music delicacy to raw and expressive improvisation—from bare acoustics to wild electronic explorations.
