Trumpeter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and bandleader Mathias Eick last visited Stavanger with the Miles Davis project Kind of Blue at the concert hall in 2020. Now we're excited to hear his brand-new band, which will release an album ahead of their concert at Spor 5.
Eick has enjoyed great success for many years both in Norway and abroad, primarily with his own band but also with Jaga Jazzist, Iro Haarla, Manu Katché, and many others. As a trumpeter, vibraphonist, double bassist, guitarist, or pianist, the multi-instrumentalist Eick has contributed to well over a hundred recordings.
Mathias Eick releases his music on the renowned ECM label and is established as a leading figure in the Scandinavian jazz scene. Eick's compositions inhabit a highly melodic space. His trumpet playing is restrained and subtle, with a focus on elevating the band to a unified musical expression—dreamy, groovy, beautiful. Expect this and more.
Line-up: Mathias Eick – trumpet Kristjan Ranadalu – grand piano Ole Morten Vågan – bass Hans Hulbækmo – drums
