"Some other time" Three of Western Norway's jazz profiles have joined forces to interpret the finest jazz standards.
They take you to "some other time" and present songs by Bill Evans, Michel Legrand, Billie Holiday, Hoagy Carmichael and Cole Porter, among others.
Expect atmospheric ballads, open landscapes and improvisational fervour. Eva Bjerga Haugen, vocals

Helge Lien trio with Tore Brunborg Although Helge Lien has performed in many musical contexts, it is primarily with his trio that he has attracted attention - not only in Norway, but also abroad. Few bands on the Norwegian jazz scene are able to excite an audience as much as Helge Lien Trio. Here we get both intensely swinging songs and beautiful, lyrical compositions. When the trio's album "Guzuguzu" was released in 2017, Terje Mosnes began his review on jazzinorge.no as follows: "Helge Lien Trio's ninth album is a revelation of strong songs and brilliant communication". And he concludes with "This is a lasting delight for ear and mind". You'd think it would be hard to top this, but when the trio released the album "10" in 2019, the same Mosnes wrote: "20 years after the start, Helge Lien is better than ever". "Revisited" from 2022 confirms this impression. The world's largest jazz website, All About Jazz, puts the Helge Lien Trio in the same class as the trios of Brad Mehldau and Bill Evans when it comes to mastering "The Art Of The Trio".
Helge Lien's partners in today's trio are bassist Johannes Eick and drummer Knut Aalefjær, and it's hard to imagine more skilful partners. But this concert in Kongsberg will be special for several reasons. None other than saxophonist Tore Brunborg joins the trio. Ever since his breakthrough at the age of 23 with the band Masqualero, he has been a key musician on the Norwegian - and European - jazz scene. He is an outstanding instrumentalist, often reflective and lyrical and with a highly expressive tone in his horn - a tone that very few other saxophonists come close to. But, as we will hear, he does not lack temperament!
