Norwegian Oil History – A Human Perspective
Oil history is about massive concrete platforms, politics, accidents, near misses, and the oil fund. But it is also a story about people.
This evening, the story will be told by researcher Trude Meland and museum educator and historian Julia Stangeland, both from the Norwegian Petroleum Museum.
As Stavanger celebrates its 900th anniversary, it is natural to reflect on its oil history. Both Sølvberget and the Norwegian Petroleum Museum opened exhibitions in February highlighting some of the painful aspects of the city’s oil past. Therefore, the two institutions are collaborating on an event series dedicated to oil history and its darker sides.
