About the Performance
Geir Hytten aims to affect his audience by exploring environmental issues through dance. This evening, we present his two performances: "RED FLAG" and "grief will be our companion."
Geir Hytten has invited Corentin JPM Leven, Kristoffer Lislegaard, Jacob Ingram-Dodd, and Terje Tjøme Mossige to engage in a daily artistic practice to see whether this can bring about a bodily connection to the societal changes we deem necessary for creating a sustainable future.
In a risky stage environment, they explore the interaction between tactile and imaginary physical textures, where movements both arise and dissolve in an eternal cycle. This both beautiful and violent process is inspired by the humus in the earth's crust, and the audience is invited to a scenic attempt at how we can approach a physicality that extends beyond the moment to a timeless body.
"grief will be our companion" suggests, with this backdrop, that we must learn to live with ecological grief as a companion, learning to inherit the earth without denial and to remain in the burden of a damaged or broken reality. Together, we will dwell on loss, to be grateful for what it means, and then see how we must change and renew our relationships in order to move forward.
