Zum Hauptinhalt

After half a century in the music industry, Bjørn Eidsvåg stands as a pillar of Norwegian music. For years, he has performed around 80 concerts annually, reaching every corner of the country. In 2024, Bjørn celebrated his 70th birthday with a sold-out show at Oslo Spektrum and has spent the past year playing to full houses across Norway on his anniversary tour, Ingen vei tilbake (No Way Back). Following a record-breaking fall and spring, with 25,000 tickets sold before the tour even began, the beloved artist is now ready to take on the festival stages.

Even after a long and distinguished career, Bjørn continues to stay relevant, constantly evolving his musical expression. In January 2023, he appeared on TV2’s Hver gang vi møtes (Every Time We Meet), where his episode set a viewership record and became the most-watched in the show's history. After the premiere, several of Bjørn’s renditions climbed the top charts on Spotify Norway, while other artists’ covers of his songs took the country by storm. Emma Steinbakken’s version of Floden topped the charts and became the most-streamed song on Spotify in Norway in 2023. Inspired by his younger colleagues on the show, Bjørn soon teamed up with star producer Carl Viktor Guttormsen, 40 years his junior, who also produced Steinbakken’s Floden. Their collaboration first resulted in the song Ikkje sei det som det er (Don’t Say It Like It Is), followed by the EP Folk flest er snille (Most People Are Kind), released in March 2024. The EP featured tracks produced by Carl-Viktor Guttormsen and Anders Kjær. The song Vi to (The Two of Us), featuring Nils Bech, was named "Song of the Week" on NRK P3, while VG gave the title track Folk flest er snille a five-star review.

Together with Guttormsen, Bjørn has also created new versions of Ringdans from 1990 and the nearly 30-year-old fan favorite Skyfri himmel, the latter in collaboration with artist YLVA.

Since his debut in 1971, Bjørn has released 28 albums, performed about 80 concerts annually, published a book, hosted his own TV and radio shows, and even taken the stage at Det Norske Teatret with his original theater production Etterlyst: Jesus (Wanted: Jesus)—to name just a few achievements. Generations of Norwegians have a deep connection to his beloved songs like Skyfri himmel and Eg ser. His curiosity about new musical styles has led to numerous exciting collaborations with well-known artists from Norway, Sweden, and Denmark over the years, including the duet Mysteriet deg (The Mystery of You) with Lisa Nilsson. The song won the Spellemann Award for "Song of the Year" and has over 12 million streams on Spotify. Lisa Nilsson was among the many artist colleagues who paid tribute to Bjørn on stage at Oslo Spektrum for his 70th birthday, alongside Åge Aleksandersen, Gabrielle, Maria Mena, Isah, Elvira Nikolaisen, Emma Steinbakken, and Ingebjørg Bratland.

In the fall of 2024, Bjørn and his remarkable career were honored with induction into the Rockheim Hall of Fame.
