**"Gian Luca Colombo's journey into winemaking began as a personal ambition, driven by a deep desire to pursue this craft, despite not having inherited farmland or vineyards. In 2011, he took his first step by purchasing grapes from vineyards in prime locations. Over time, he managed to establish his own vineyard and business, which now spans 4.5 hectares across 14 small plots. These parcels are a mix of owned land and long-term leases, all of which he manages personally.
The vineyard is primarily planted with the traditional grape varieties of the Langa region—Nebbiolo, Barbera, Pelaverga, and Dolcetto. However, Gian Luca has always cultivated Pinot Noir as well, a grape he has a deep passion for. His vineyards are mainly located in the renowned Barolo area, but he also owns a parcel in Roero and one in Doglianese.
Although he originally practiced organic farming, Gian Luca has embraced biodynamic methods over the past six years. This shift is part of a broader vision to increase the complexity of his business. In addition to his vineyards, he has begun cultivating orchards and grain fields and plans to plant a small forest near his home.
All vineyard work—including treatments and management of the biodynamic compost heap—is carried out personally. To minimize soil compaction, he uses a small, lightweight wheeled tractor. Winemaking is also entirely handcrafted, with Gian Luca personally producing the wines in his small, dedicated cellar."**
