The city bikes are electric and therefore an efficient means of transport if you're travelling from A to B or want to explore Haugesund and the surrounding area. There are several charging stations and bikes located around the city centre and the surrounding area - see the map on the website or in the app for the exact location.

Where can I find the city bikes?

You can see a map of charging stations and city bikes on the Kolumbus website or in the Kolumbus ticket app.

What do I do when I want to rent a city bike?

  1. Download the Kolumbus ticket app. You can easily do this here.
  2. Open the app and select City bike in the menu (if it's your first time using the app, you must register your phone number and payment card).
  3. You can unlock a bike if you either have a valid ticket in the app or pay NOK 20 to unlock a bike.
  4. Find the bike you want to use in the map in the app and unlock it.

How much does it cost to rent a city bike?

If you have a valid ticket in the Kolumbus ticket app, you have 15 minutes of free use of the city bike. After the 15 minutes are used up, it costs one krone per subsequent minute.

How long can I borrow a city bike?

You can borrow a city bike for a maximum of 12 hours at a time.

Is there an age limit for renting a bike?

You must be at least 16 years old to rent a city bike.

Can I take a break during my bike hire and what do I do when I'm done?

If you want to leave your bike and take a break, you can lock your bike in the ticket app. However, if you have finished your ride, you must park it in a charging station by inserting the front wheel into the rack. If you want to leave your bike far from a charging station, you can do that too. Then you lock the bike and end the trip in the app for a fee of NOK 200.

Where is it popular to cycle?

It's great to cycle to Djupadalen, Norway's only national monument Haraldshaugen and "The Rising Tide" sculptures in Kvalsvik. City bikes are also a great way to get around if you want to visit Alti Amanda Storsenter or Oasen Storsenter (shopping centres outside the city centre). Visit Haugesund Tourist Information at Haraldsgata 131 for more tips on great cycling tours.
