When you step into one of our small log houses, you step into the life of a 19th century Sunnfjord inhabitant. Along the paths between turfed roofs, hayracks and a small mill brook, you get a sense of the everyday life of our great-great-great-grandparents.

Cultural heritage and everyday life

The open-air museum displays cultural heritage and everyday life from the inner Sunnfjord villages. With a total of 32 historical buildings, you can experience a traditional smallholding, a homestead and a mountain farm. Down by the lake you’ll find a boathouse, and you can go for a swim and say hello to our goats.

The indoor section offers rotating cultural heritage exhibitions, a gift shop and a selection of ice cream. In the forest surrounding the museum you will find educational hiking trails. During the summer, Sunnfjord Museum offer customised family-friendly guided tours in Norwegian or English.
