ABOUT GÅSVÆR
Gåsvær is a small island, about 1 km wide and 2 km long. There have been two farms here since time immemorial, but today only the main farm remains, running sheep. The special building environment in the harbour belongs to the main farm on the island. The house that has rental apartments is the old farmhouse on the farm. There are a total of four cottages on the island, and there are permanent residents on Gåsvær all year round.
Other businesses run from Gåsvær are the fishing company Barstein AS and the shuttle boat company PR Sulejet. The 50-foot fishing boat Barstein fishes all along the coast for herring, mackerel, saithe and the traditional cod fishing in Lofoten.
On the island of Gåsvær you can relax and enjoy the tranquillity. There are no shops or cars here, only tractors and wheelbarrows for transport. If you want to shop, you'll find the Spar store in the municipal centre of Hardbakke. You can take the ferry in to buy what you need.
