Are you ready for an active and relaxing holiday at Jæren? With the wind in your hair and power from your feet on your bike pedals, you can cycle mile after mile on cosy roads, and enjoy everything Jæren has to offer. The Jærruta bike route is 140 kilometres long and stretches between Stavanger International Airport in the north and the harbour in Egersund in the south.
The Jærruta runs through Norway's primary farming ground, you can stop at a multitude of farm outlets and good eateries along the way that all serve food based on local products. Choose from spending the night in hotels or guest houses, lighthouses, treetop cabins or campsites. Large parts of the tour go along the beaches in an area known for its ever-changing light that has inspired artists and poets for centuries. The route swings past several attractions; the famous street artwork of Erling Braut Haaland painted by Pøbel, the well-known art and culture centre Hå gamle prestegard and many of the museums and facilities from Jærmuseet.
Get close to the typical "jæren" culture and the wild North Sea from the bicycle seat. Experience four seasons on the same trip! Be prepared for changing weather.
You don't need to be in top shape to travel on two wheels in the flat landscape of Jæren. The beauty of this cycle tour is that you can decide exactly how long each stage should be, and how often you want to stop along the way. It is possible to cycle the entire stretch in one day, but it is common to divide it into stages or only take parts of the trip. You can also book complete packages with food, accommodation and bike hire. The electric bike is then charged and ready wherever you want, so you don't have to think about anything other than charging your batteries by having fun.
