Unique accommodation on Runde

On the bird island of Runde, two hours south of Ålesund and close to Fosnavåg and Ulsteinvik, you will find Runde Panorama. Nine unique cabins with large windows, surrounded by spectacular scenery and with panoramic views of Runde and the open sea. To give you the best possible view, the cabins have been carefully placed in the landscape, leaving as little impact on nature as possible. First class facilities provide everything you need for a comfortable stay close to the ocean. The sounds of the sea, the seagulls and the weather create a natural, peaceful atmosphere. Breathe, be in the moment and take in the wildlife, the beautiful coastal scenery and each season’s character. If you would like to explore the surrounding area and take part in a variety of activities, there is plenty to do – whether it is just you and your party or together with others. Each cabin has its own name, linked to one or more of Runde's fascinating events, places or stories. Click here for cabin prices and booking.

A year-round experience

A stay at Runde Panorama is an experience all year round. In spring and summer, you can enjoy beautiful walks in the mountains or by the sea, and in autumn and winter you can sit in the front row with a fire in the fireplace and watch the stormy weather and changing light on the sea through the large panoramic windows. You will be close to the forces of nature, but at a safe distance.

Bird watching and other activities

At Runde Environmental Centre and Opplev Runde, you can book experiences such as bird safaris on Rundefjellet, coasteering, being a bird researcher for a day and other exciting activities.

The Runde Treasure

Runde Environmental Centre is just around the corner and offers several exhibitions, including the Runde Treasure. This comes from the Dutch ship “Akerendam”, which sank off Runde in 1725 and was loaded with gold coins and other valuable artefacts.

Food and drinks

The cabins have a well-equipped kitchen where you can cook while enjoying the view. If you just want to relax and want what you need to be delivered or go to the nearest neighbour to eat, Christineborg Gjestehus is located next to the cabins. During the summer, you can order breakfast and dinner in the restaurant if you do not want to cook on your own. If you prefer your food to be organised another way, this can also be arranged.

How to get to Runde

Runde has a bus connection to the neighbouring islands, linked to the mainland by an underwater tunnel to Ørsta and Volda, or you can take a ferry from Ålesund. Driving to Runde takes about two hours, including the Sulesund–Hareid ferry from Ålesund. From Ørsta/Volda it takes about one hour by car. Hurtigruten and Kystruten stop in Torvik, close to Runde. There are airports in Ålesund and Ørsta. There is also a bus to Runde. You can find the timetables at FRAM.
