The cabin was used as the main base for hunting wild reindeer up in the mountains in Sirdal. The cabin was built in 1910. Several famous people (kings, lords and important politicians) from all over the world have slept in this cabin!
Step back in time - here you sleep in what was one of Norway's very first truly great tourism products. This is where the nobility from Germany and England met to hunt wild reindeer, staying in what were then luxury cabins in the mountains. This cabin is completely authentic and was moved to Kvæven in 2001. The building is a living museum and part of the Sirdal Mountain Museum. You sleep in authentic surroundings with reindeer antlers and the first Mauser rifles on the wall. The experience of sleeping here is powerful. The standard is simple but exclusive.
And as if this experience wasn't enough in itself, Sirdal Safari & Adventures can, for an additional fee, serve a real game stew in the cabin. The food is served on the same crockery that Heiberg served the nobility and lords of England and Germany over 100 years ago.
