A modern couples therapist’s attempt to understand communication in relationships from another time.
ALEXANDER & BEATE IN COUPLES THERAPY is a performance that brings a selection of Alexander Kielland’s letters and literature into a modern context.
A therapist from our present day, in 2024, tries to understand Alexander and his wife Beate through dialogue and art therapy. With great determination and a somewhat awkward enthusiasm, the therapist encourages the couple to explore thoughts and perspectives they previously dared not address.
As part of the 175th anniversary of Alexander Kielland, ALEXANDER & BEATE IN COUPLES THERAPY aims to make Alexander Kielland, both as a person and a literary icon, accessible in our language and understanding.
