The colorful German organist Angela Metzger takes you on a fascinating journey through French, German, and English organ music from many eras. In her unique way, she shows how composers have borrowed from one another and continued to build on the impulses they received. One could say the music itself has traveled, from Vivaldi through Bach and into brand-new compositions, which will premiere tonight.

The program begins with Bach/Vivaldi's Concerto in D minor, followed by Gabriel Pierné's three organ pieces, Franz Liszt's Consolations in D-flat major and E major, and Thalben-Ball's pedal etudes on a theme by Paganini. New works by Philipp Maintz and Johannes Schachtner, the latter inspired by Bruckner, are interwoven into the performance, which concludes with the brilliant prelude to Wagner's "The Mastersingers."

Angela Metzger from Munich performs internationally as a concert organist and soloist with orchestras such as the Helsinki Philharmonic, WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, and Augsburg Philharmonic. She has given concerts at venues like Orgelpark Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Berlin, Philharmonie Essen, Musashino Hall Tokyo, and the Royal Opera House Muscat, and at festivals such as Toulouse les Orgues, Musikfest ION Nürnberg, and Varaždin Baroque Festival.

Angela has won numerous organ competitions and has received the Bayernwerk Cultural Prize and the Bavarian Arts Promotion Prize. Her repertoire spans from the late Renaissance to premieres of new works and has been documented in radio and TV recordings as well as CD productions. She studied with Edgar Krapp and Bernhard Haas at the Munich University of Music. Since 2023, she has taught at the University of Protestant Church Music in Bayreuth.
