A joint meeting between Sola Historical Society and Friends of the Aviation Museum

For 40 years, aviation enthusiasts have been quietly working in the old German hangar at Sømmevågen, driven by a deep passion for vintage aircraft. The Aviation Museum is part of Jærmuseet, but it’s the friends’ association that has been behind the restoration and reconstruction of these historic planes. Many of the aircraft were recovered as wrecks from the bottom of the sea and have been brought back to life as complete and intact planes.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of these efforts, which will be celebrated at tonight’s meeting. Some of the enthusiasts will share the unique stories behind the aircraft, a remarkable chapter in Sola’s history.

Free admission.
