Maya Homburger and Barry Guy met in 1988, both holding prominent positions in British music: Maya as a baroque violinist with John Eliot Gardiner, Trevor Pinnock, and Christopher Hogwood, and Barry as a solo bassist with major London orchestras. Since then, they have pursued their paths together: Barry founded the London Jazz Composers Orchestra, the Barry Guy New Orchestra, and recently the Blue Shroud Band.

Among his many honors, Barry Guy is an honorary doctor at Middlesex University and holds an honorary professorship at the Rhythmic Conservatory in Copenhagen. Despite these prestigious titles, his biography describes him as an innovative bassist with creative diversity in jazz improvisation, chamber, and orchestral music, known for his varied experience and willingness to experiment, with a deep dedication to the double bass and musical communication.

The Kitchen Orchestra shares this ideal with Barry and Maya and looks forward to performing two specially composed works for them: "For To End Yet Again" and "Amphi / Three Meditations for Cecil Taylor."
