In his new book, Trond Borgen takes readers on a tour of Stavanger as it appeared in the latter half of the 1800s. In a lecture filled with stunning images, he will discuss Hertervig's many Stavanger motifs and how they serve as sources of local historical knowledge. Additionally, Borgen will use these motifs to showcase the greatness of Hertervig's art, illustrating how his work evolved in an increasingly radical and visionary direction, both in his treatment of light and his engagement with the dream life of the subconscious. This is why he is considered one of Norway's most significant artists.
