In Dagsavisen, the album is described as follows:
"Warm string play with Chango Spasiuk and Per Einar Watle. Red and blue blend to perfection across continents." In the quartet, Spasiuk and Watle are joined by Steinar Raknes on bass/vocals and Spasiuk's regular percussionist, Marcos Villalba. This is guaranteed to be the warmest concert of the autumn in Stavanger!
In 2021, the album won a "Premios Gardel" for Best Chamamé Album, a prize often referred to as Argentina's Grammy. Chamamé is a folk music style from northern Argentina, born from the mix of the area's indigenous people, the Guaraní, and European immigrants. The ensemble usually consists of 2-5 musicians with accordion, bandoneon, violin, guitar, cajon, and sometimes double bass. Chamamé combines nostalgic accordion rhythms with the lively Latin American guitar and singing tradition.
Dagsavisen's Mode Steinkjer gave the album Hielo Azul Tierra Roja a 5/6 review: "Hielo Azul Tierra Roja is an impressive recording, as raw and life-affirming as it is tender and emotional. Spasiuk's accordion and Watle's guitar could hardly be a better and more natural match."
Come and listen to the undisputed master of Chamamé, together with Per Einar Watle, Steinar Raknes, and the fiery percussionist Marcos Villalba, as they unite poetry, song, language, and cultures through their highly acclaimed Norwegian-Argentinian music project!
