The band was formed at the Jazz Department of NTNU in 2018 and is a jazz orchestra made up of 11 musicians, who are considered among the country's leading young musicians, making their mark in a wide range of bands.
Their repertoire consists of original compositions and fresh arrangements of old classics. Common to all of it is music that alternates between tight interplay in small ensembles and maximum intensity, taking full advantage of the orchestra's large size. Cosmic creates a party atmosphere and pulls the audience into an absurd reality with silk-suited men, plastic oceans, and breakfast cocaine – a reality also known as the world’s normal state. But instead of dwelling on the current state of the world, their music aims to encourage and inspire a lifestyle change to help save the planet. With this chaotic whirlwind of impressions, Cosmic meets people from all walks of life, aiming to give them an ecstatic show, a dose of reality, and most importantly, hope that can inspire action.
The band tours actively and recently performed at the Stockholm Jazz Festival, where their concert was described as, "Undoubtedly one of the festival's highlights," by Sweden’s largest music magazine, Lira Musikmagasin.
