In the exhibition "The Plastic Body," works by ten Polish artists from the 1960s and 70s are displayed, challenging traditional understandings of sculpture.
The artists operated under a Soviet-friendly communist regime, which imposed limitations on individual freedom and artistic expression. Nonetheless, they created highly radical works. They broke with conventional representations of the human body, exploring it as a site of resistance, change, and freedom. Their works address the vulnerable, ephemeral, and fragmented body, while also encompassing themes of sensuality and desire.
Join art historian Helga Nyman, who has curated the exhibition alongside Vibece Salthe, for a guided tour. Nyman will discuss the work involved in the exhibition, focusing on overarching themes, the selection of artists, and specific works.
The tour will be held in Scandinavian.
