How broken can we humans become? What happens inside us when the light goes out, the gloom weighs us down, and the longing for love drives us mad? In Twelve on Five Psychosis, we get to visit the inner life of a person in conflict with his deepest darkness.

The title refers to the time of day when people are at their most vulnerable, and when most people commit suicide. The author, Sarah Kane (1971-1999), struggled with severe depression for several years, and shortly after Twelve on Five Psychosis was completed, she took her own life on 20 February 1999.

The play was adapted by Jon Fosse, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2024.

Follies would like to draw your attention to the fact that the production contains powerful scenes on themes such as self-harm, suicide and mental illness. Follies asks therefore the audience to consider this when buying tickets.
