Experience the humorous and thought-provoking performance ‘Good luck, Cathrine Frost!’ at Tysværtunet on 11 May 2025. The show, which has been a hit with audiences since its premiere, blends philosophy and real-life experiences of childbirth and motherhood in a way that both entertains and challenges the audience.
From premiere to global success
Since her debut, Cathrine Frost has filled the theatres at Det Andre Teatret, the National Theatre, in London and at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh. With a mix of humour and seriousness, she takes the audience on a personal journey through the desire for children, the birth experience and life as a mother, challenging conventional notions of motherhood.
Philosophical undertones
The performance humorously links philosophical concepts to the physical experience of giving birth, inspired by how the ancient philosophers of Athens regarded the birth of ideas as a metaphorical pregnancy. Cathrine Frost puts on her toga and takes the audience back to the cradle of civilisation with a modern and sharp eye.
Pay attention
It should be noted that the performance contains strong descriptions that may seem overwhelming to some, especially people with blood phobia, as the scenes include detailed birth stories. In addition, strobe lighting is used during the performance.
Reviews and nominations
‘Cathrine Frost uses philosophy in a funny way to discuss women's health,’ says Aftenposten. The production has received rave reviews and was nominated for the Hedda Award 2023 for ‘Best Theatre Production’.
On stage and behind the scenes
Cathrine Frost Andersen is on stage herself, with a creative team led by director Mats Eldøen. The stage design is by Monica Valsø, and sound and lighting design is handled by Henrik Stoltz Vernegg.
The performance lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes without intermission and is produced by Det Andre Teatret in collaboration with The Norwegian Touring Theatre.
