Tellef Kvifte is an experienced musician and multi-instrumentalist who has been part of the Norwegian folk music scene for many years. He has contributed to legendary albums like Heitaste Slåtten and Slinkombas (with Bjørgum, Bråthen Berg, and Stubseid). Kvifte has also worked as an academic and teacher at the Norwegian Folk Music Collection, the Universities of Oslo and Bergen, the Ole Bull Academy, and most recently at the Department of Folk Culture and Folk Music in Rauland.

Tonight, the focus is on the sea flute. In the 1970s, Kvifte discovered sea flute music from Numedal through his friend, Per Midtstigen. Kvifte is one of the few musicians with a vast sea flute repertoire, and it is a great pleasure to hear this music at Gorrlaus in Stavanger.

Kvifte has also worked in NRK's music section and has been involved in many fantastic folk music documentaries still available on NRK's online TV, including Den sterke slått, which focuses on the powerful tunes from Setesdal. Always seeking new challenges, Kvifte founded the record label Taragot in 2014, which has since released nearly 50 albums.

Gard Nergaard is a young fiddler and storyteller who has made a name for himself as a charismatic and innovative ambassador for Agder's music. Nearly ten years ago, he released the album Seint var det om kvelden, an impressive documentation of a unique tradition that was almost lost. With this, he firmly placed both himself and Mandalen in Vest-Agder on the folk music map.

After many years as a musical cosmopolitan, he has recently returned home and is in the midst of an extremely productive period. With the fiddle duo Alvina & Gard, he released the critically acclaimed album Tillflykten in April, premiered the children's theater play Platt Planet in July, and with Kalejdoskop Trio, he is releasing the album Kalejdoskop on CD, vinyl, and digital platforms in September.

At Gorrlaus, we are excited to hear fiddle playing that sparks and smokes when Gard Nergaard returns to the tunes that form the foundation of his musical heritage. Welcome!

After the concerts, there will be dance music and a party with Haugesund Spelemannslag and Ottar Kåsa. The young and incredible halling dancer, Knut Boksasp, will also grace the evening with his presence.
