The title of the exhibition can be translated as The Age of Humans, referring to how human civilization has dramatically altered the planet through various profound changes.
Antropo-cen consists of selected works from three series: Artic Technology and The Global Seed Vault, Residence of Impermanence, and Death of a Mountain.
About Christian Houge
Christian Houge is an Oslo-based photographer whose works have received more international recognition than in Norway. He has consistently explored environmental themes throughout his artistic career during a time when the Earth has changed significantly. Through his commitment to climate and environmental issues, Christian Houge has established himself as an important voice in both the national and international art scene.
In Artic Technology and the Global Seed Vault, panoramic images of the research parks at Svalbard and the Global Seed Vault are presented. The Global Seed Vault contains seeds from most countries, safeguarding the planet's biodiversity from warming, natural disasters, and war. Houge has received several photography awards and nominations for his environmentally focused art. He has been awarded grants from the Norwegian Artists' Fund and the Arts Council. In recent years, he has been nominated multiple times for the prestigious sustainability photography prize, Prix Pictet. He has held numerous solo exhibitions nationally and internationally, and his works are represented in significant private and public collections both in Norway and abroad.
