 6:30 PM: Raudt støv - Jone Schanche Olsen in conversation with author Tore Kvæven about Raudt støv, the first novel in a dystopian, war-torn future trilogy.

7:30 PM: Horror literature for children - Panel discussion with Bjørn Arild Ersland, Aina Basso, and Tale Østrem.

About the evening's participants:

First up are Tore Kvæven and Jone Schanche Olsen. Kvæven, from Sirdal, is both a farmer and an award-winning author. He debuted in 2011 with the novel Hard er mitt lands lov, a historical novel from the Viking Age. In 2018 came another historical novel, Når landet mørknar, before he shifted his focus to the future with Raudt Støv in 2023. So far, Kvæven has completed two books in the Raudt Støv trilogy. At Hjemsøkt, Kvæven will be in conversation with psychiatrist Jone Schanche Olsen, who has hosted numerous author events and is an experienced interviewer.

The evening concludes with a panel discussion where Aina Basso, Tale Østrem, and Bjørn Arild Ersland will explore horror literature for children.

How often is children's literature presented to an adult audience? We feel that it mostly happens in connection with academic seminars like Se og les or the Nordic Children's Book Conference. Through this event, we aim to highlight various aspects of children's literature with horror themes for a reading, adult audience curious about new literary experiences. We will discuss:

What characterizes horror literature for children

How to write scary stories for younger readers

And no one is better suited for such a discussion than those who have researched, read, communicated, and, most importantly, written this type of literature. Therefore, we've assembled a top-notch panel including:

Author and historian Aina Basso

Storyteller, communicator, and librarian Tale Østrem

Author and professor of creative writing at the University of Stavanger, Bjørn Arild Ersland (who will lead the panel).
