Join Sjøbris Adventure for an introductory sea kayak course and learn basic techniques and skills that provide a safe and comfortable foundation for paddling on the sea. The course covers the following:
- Safety: You will receive an introduction on how to increase safety while paddling.
- Seating Position and Paddling Technique: Learn how to maintain a good seating position and efficient paddling technique.
- Handling the Kayak: Learn how to lift, carry, and launch the kayak properly.
- Landing: Learn how to safely get out of the kayak and return to land.
- Paddling Technique: Paddle forward with the correct course, stop, turn both ways, and practice backward paddling.
- Kayak Rescue: Get a brief introduction on how to safely get back into your kayak, including buddy rescue techniques.
- Local Paddling Conditions: Familiarize yourself with the specific paddling conditions in the area.
The course qualifies for the Våttkort certificate. Please note that in some cases, an introductory course may not be sufficient for renting a kayak, as some rental companies require a Basic Course.
What to bring:
- Swimwear (clothes suitable to wear under the wetsuit) and a towel
- A bag for wet clothes, along with dry and warm clothes for after the activity
- A water bottle and a light snack for hydration and energy
The rental of kayak, paddle, spray skirt, and life jacket is included in the price.
Participant Requirements
- Must be able to swim and feel comfortable in the water
- Over 10 years old (children must be accompanied by an adult)

Before the course starts, we will conduct a thorough review of safety procedures, including:
- Proper use of equipment
- Handling potential risks
- Clear guidelines for safe participation
Participants must sign a liability and self-declaration form before participating. We reserve the right to refuse participants who behave irresponsibly or are inadequately equipped for the trip, without any right to a refund.

Weather conditions can change quickly, and for safety reasons, we reserve the right to adjust or cancel activities as needed. This may include changes to the route or a complete cancellation of the activity.
