Karmøygeddon is an important event for metal fans, and the festival has established itself as one of the most recognised metal festivals in Norway.
Time and duration
The festival is usually organised over three days, from Thursday to Saturday, in late April/early May. These days are filled with intense music and an unforgettable atmosphere that attracts both local and international visitors.
Musical diversity
Karmøygeddon Metal Festival aims to offer a wide range of metal bands within different sub-genres of metal. From classic heavy metal to authentic Norwegian black metal, the festival offers something for every metal enthusiast. In the past, big names such as SepticFlesh, Sabaton, Helloween, Brainstorm, Kamelot, Behemoth, Katatonia and Finntroll have taken to the stage, testifying to the festival's high quality.
Intimate atmosphere with a focus on new talent
Even though the festival often draws large crowds with well-known bands, the festival management is keen to preserve the intimate and friendly atmosphere that Karmøygeddon is known for. Great emphasis is also placed on including smaller, up-and-coming bands in the programme. This is a deliberate strategy to encourage young and talented musicians, as well as to help introduce them to the international metal scene.
Visitor numbers and infrastructure
Every year, Karmøygeddon Metal Festival attracts around 4,000 visitors. The festival has two stages: a smaller club stage and an outdoor tent stage. For those needing accommodation, there are several hotels within a short bus or car ride of the festival site, as well as a motorhome camp located just 200 metres from the venue. This makes it easy for visitors to enjoy the festival without having to worry about logistics.
Karmøygeddon Metal Festival continues to be a key meeting place for metal fans and an important event to celebrate metal music in all its forms.
