Kin'gongolo Kiniata på Tou i Stavanger Øst

Kin'Gongolo Kiniata represents the new generation of musicians from Kinshasa. Nourished by the sounds of the city, the group translates the hectic street life into their music. They create their own instruments using recycled objects and explore sound textures to produce experimental Afro-pop with punk energy, blending electro and Congolese rhythms.

The lyrics, sung in Ingala (one of the most spoken languages in Congo), touch on various themes of hope and resilience. They pay tribute to the itinerant workers, sing against the war in Congo, and offer encouragement to the youth of Kinshasa.

During the period of power outages in Congo, itinerant oil sellers provided people with the necessary means to create light. The sound of the cans they carried echoed "kingongolo, kingongolo, kingongolo..."
