Stavanger Musikkorps of 1919 invites you to an evening of music and New Year's magic - for the entire family, young and old alike!
We celebrate the new year with music and a touch of magic. We've invited young musicians from the city’s school bands to join us, alongside the artist and musician Haakon Esplo. Together, we’ll bring you an evening filled with great music and humour. Bring the whole family to Stavanger Concert Hall for an unforgettable New Year’s celebration and concert – a magical night awaits!
Haakon Esplo is a versatile musician, composer, and comedian. With a degree from the Norwegian Academy of Music, he has worked for decades combining music and humour. He’s been involved in revues and theatre productions and has arranged and composed music for many years. He has published hundreds of sheet music pieces, mainly for band ensembles, but also for choirs, orchestras, and other artists. We are thrilled to have Haakon Esplo with us, as he is an active and diverse artist.
Stavanger Musikkorps of 1919 is the city’s oldest wind band, with a full symphonic wind ensemble. The band includes members aged between 17 and 83 years. We regularly participate in competitions like JAN-AM and the National Championships, where we have competed in the 1st division. However, we are most known for our great sense of humour and welcoming atmosphere!
The conductor for the evening will be their regular conductor Bastien Riquebourg, and Haakon Esplo will serve as both master of ceremonies and entertainer.
