December is quickly filled with Christmas presents, Christmas trees, Christmas songs and Christmas baking. But December is so much more than that. It's a time for family, but also loneliness. It's a time for love, but also longing. Ryfylke has songs that embrace life's ups and downs, and at the concert they will capture some of the atmosphere of December. We hope the audience will lower their shoulders and have a great experience with us in a busy pre-Christmas period. There will also be room for a little Christmas spirit with songs such as: ‘Kvide jul’ and “Ei striba med lys”.

Ryfylke, or Ryfylke Visegruppe, was known throughout the country in the 80s and 90s and has been active more or less since its inception in 1978. They are possibly the last group left after the ‘song wave’ of the 70s and 80s. Ryfylke's repertoire ranges from old songs, tunes and songs from Ryfylke to newer songs that the group has released on its seven productions. Songs such as ‘Dine auer’, ‘Kjerestepar’, ‘Fysste morningen’ and ‘Vie dagen te solå’ are familiar to many. Lyrics and melodies are written by local composers and authors, and produced by the group itself.

Today, the group has an acoustic sound with one vocalist and four instrumentalists. Musical characteristics are ‘string play’ and polyphonic choirs. The group currently consists of Anita Nymann Tønnessen (vocals), Rolf Kloster (guitar and vocals), Stein Endresen (guitar and vocals), Torje Fanebust Ås (bass) and Tommi Haukland (percussion, flute and vocals).
