Welcome to an atmospheric concert experience with songs from Haugtussa, the iconic poetry cycle by Arne Garborg, which has been interpreted and set to music by some of Norway's foremost composers. This evening you will hear beautiful musical interpretations of the Haugtussa texts, where Edvard Grieg, Eyvind Alnæs, Reimond Elling, Arne Dørumsgaard, Sparre Olsen, and Johan Kvandal have put their unique musical expressions to Garborg's strong and evocative poetry.
These compositions bring to life the story of Veslemøy, the young girl with psychic abilities who lives at the intersection of the mundane and the mystical in the Jæren landscape. The concert offers a wide range of moods, from the lyrical and melancholic to the dramatic and magical, all woven together by Garborg's deep understanding of nature and the human mind.
The event is supported by Rogaland County Council and the Norwegian Arts Council, which helps to promote Norwegian cultural heritage and make these fantastic pieces of music available to the public.
