Bulgarian pianist Martin Ivanov was born into a musical family and began playing the piano at the age of four, taught by his mother until he completed the national arts school in his hometown Ruse in 2009.
Throughout his schooling, he participated in over 50 piano competitions and won more than 45 prizes. In 2006, he was discovered by the director of "Jeunesses Musicales" in Bucharest and was invited on tours across several European countries, including France, Austria, and Romania. In 2008, he received Ruse’s prestigious award, "Ruse 21st Century," for his contributions to music.
In 2009, he was accepted as a student of Professor Oleg Maisenberg at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He has performed at major festivals across Europe, such as "Peter The Great" in the Netherlands and the "Chopin Festival Nohant" in France.
Martin debuted at Salle Gaveau in Paris in 2010 and later performed on Slovakia’s national radio in 2011 with a remarkable interpretation of Stravinsky’s "Three Movements from Petrouchka." That same year, he met his future wife, violinist Maria Ramalchanova, and together they have organized concerts and masterclasses throughout Europe. In 2016, a recital for France Musique led to collaboration with Yves Henry from the Chopin Festival in Nohant and an extensive concert tour the following year.
In 2017, he began collaborating with Gramola and released several successful albums, including Chopin’s waltzes and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsodies. In 2019, he gave a highly acclaimed concert featuring all of Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsodies in a single evening.
Since 2021, he has focused on recordings and planned several upcoming albums, including "Martin Ivanov plays Martin Ivanov." That same year, he made his debut at the Musikverein in Vienna, performing Dvorak’s Piano Concerto op. 33 with conductor Robert Zelzer.
