What achievements are behind this year's Nobel Prizes? What do the efforts, theories, dissemination and results mean to you and me? Researchers from the University of Stavanger and Stavanger University Hospital answer when we invite you to a Nobel event.
The Nobel Prizes will be awarded in Stockholm and Oslo on the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death on Tuesday 10 December. The evening before, we invite you to a Nobel event at Møteplassen at Sølvberget in Stavanger. Six skilled experts from UiS and SUS will present the prize winners and explain the discoveries and contributions that are being celebrated. And they will do so in a way that those of us who do not have in-depth knowledge of the subject can understand.
The event is free but requires registration: https://uis.pameldingssystem.no/nobel2024
Each panellist will have 10 minutes to tell us more about the various award winners and their achievements. Journalist and programme host Guttorm Andreasen will host the evening.
The event is free and open to all, subject to availability. Please note that some of the presentations are in English and some in Norwegian.
Organiser, initiative and idea: Mark van der Giezen, Professor of Biological Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Biosciences and Environmental Technology: with the support of the Research Department and the Department of Communication and Public Affairs at UiS, in collaboration with Sølvberget Library and Cultural Centre.
