Welcome to a magical performance with Grand Kyiv Ballet: The Nutcracker
Join us on an unforgettable journey into a world of dreams, magic and triumph over evil. The Grand Kyiv Ballet, made up of leading dancers from the prestigious Ukrainian ballet, invites you to a heart-warming experience that has thrilled audiences on the world's leading stages for the past five years.

The Nutcracker is a unique ballet by Peter Tchaikovsky, based on E.T.A. Hoffmann's timeless fairy tale, with libretto by Marius Petipa. The story revolves around the young girl Mary and her enchanting journey through a fairytale world. Marius Petipa's skilful use of Hoffmann's story gives life to the main characters Mary and Clara, and takes you on an emotional journey through a magical Christmas evening. In the first act, the guests gather at Dr Stahlbaum's house on Christmas Eve, and this is where the adventure begins. Mary and Fritz, Dr Stahlbaum's children, are anxiously awaiting gifts, and in an astonishing introduction they meet their godfather Drosselmeyer, a wizard with a unique ability to bring toys to life. Mary is given a nutcracker doll, and from this point on we follow a journey that combines reality and dream. The action shifts to Clara's dream world, where the walls move, the Christmas tree grows, and the toys come to life. An epic battle between the Nutcracker and the Mouse King ensues, before the Nutcracker is transformed into a prince. The second act continues in this dream world, where Mary and the prince take part in an enchanting celebration under the stars. The dances and celebrations take us through different cultures and symbolise the victory over the evil that the Mouse King represents. But soon Mary must awaken from this fantastic dream and be reunited with the Nutcracker.
