Vegard Holum (b. 1985) is a musician and composer from Fosnavåg with education from the University of Agder and the Norwegian Academy of Music. Growing up in a musical family surrounded by choirs and songs, he was early absorbed by the melody. How it can create tension completely on its own and suddenly become powerful or soft in the face of other musical elements. As an aspiring jazz trumpeter, he quickly turned his attention to the master of melodic trumpet playing himself, Chesny Henry Baker Jr. Chet.


His effortless and horizontal melodic delivery over frequent chord changes was deeply fascinating. No need to impress or flash his trumpet brilliance. He was just the music. Combined with a movie star look and laid-back style, he was nicknamed the "Prince of Cool". Now Holum wants to dive into Baker's nostalgic universe. He will pick out his favorites from the catalog and don his hat as both trumpeter and vocalist. To interpret the music, he has brought in highly competent musicians and invites you to spend some time in the style of cool jazz.
