Myrdal Gård is a 10-minute drive from the ferry terminal in Våge.
Jasper and Nynke van Schaik took over the farm when they moved here from the Netherlands in 2013. They combine the renowned Dutch cheese-making tradition with exquisite local ingredients. Myrdal Farm has a small dairy where they produce various cheeses from both cow's and goat's milk. Enthusiastic cheese lovers at the dairy ensure that the ingredients are of the highest quality and handled according to the strictest hygiene standards. The cheeses are aged under optimal temperature and humidity conditions to fully develop their flavor potential. Over the past few years, various Myrdal cheeses have won several medals at the World Cheese Awards.
Myrdal cheese is sold in select grocery stores and specialty shops across Norway.
The farm shop is open during the spring and summer seasons.
In the shop, you can buy award-winning cheese, ice cream, yogurt, various baked goods, wood-fired pizza with farm ingredients and medal-winning cheeses, as well as many other local food products. You can dine in the cozy barn restaurant near the pizza oven, in the sunny garden room overlooking the mountains of Tysnes, outside on the terrace on comfortable lounge sofas, or at picnic tables in the open yard. The atmosphere is informal and friendly, with a focus on good vibes and great food.
From Myrdal Farm, the Sherpa trail (sherpastien) begins, leading up to the highest mountain on Tysnes: Tysnessåto, which stands 753 meters above sea level. The hike to the summit takes about 2 hours, and the farm shop at Myrdal is a great place to start your journey, an even better spot to rest afterward, or simply a fantastic location to watch other hikers embark on their adventure.
By appointment, it’s possible to arrange guided tours of the dairy and the farm. These can also include cheese tasting and a meal in the farm shop. Contact Myrdal Gård for more information.
The farm shop opens during the Easter holidays and stays open on weekends in May and June. During the Norwegian school summer holidays, it is open five days a week.
Current opening hours can be found on Myrdal Farm’s website or Facebook page.
