Svinvik Gard was a barn in the mid-17th century. Each timber log tells its own story from times when pigs, cows, and sheep resided here – in what is now a charming and modern restaurant.
Food Philosophy and Local Ingredients
The fundamental philosophy at Svinvik Gard is to add as little as possible to the food, letting the quality of the ingredients shine through in each course. Here, you will always enjoy meals made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The composition of the menu is depending on the season and the availability of ingredients on the day of your visit. Due to this, you will not know exactly what's on the menu until you are seated at the table.
Dishes from Trollheimen's Own Pantry
The menu comprises 7 to 9 large and small dishes, potentially including scampi from Todalsfjorden, grouse and wild game from all over Trollheimen, wild garlic from Stangvik, homemade sourdough bread, and more. All cooking is done the old-fashioned way – in the large stone oven located in the center of the restaurant.
Opening Hours and Booking
The restaurant welcomes individual guests, small, and large groups. Reservations must be made at least 4 days before arrival. Enhance your visit with a trip to Svinvik's Arboretum or a hike in the numerous nearby trails.
