Ski touring

The mountains in the Sognefjord are perfect for summit freeriding due to the proximity to the glacier, so the snow is often cold and of good quality for long periods. Explore majestic landscapes, ski through unbroken snow and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Going on a trip alone, without a guide, requires that you have knowledge of avalanches, first aid and navigation. Sognefjorden has several activity companies with experienced guides who can take you on a guided freeride, guided hike to the best snow and who can tailor a program that suits your skills and wishes. You are welcome to rent equipment, but we recommend that you bring your own shoes. Good, comfortable shoes are the key to a good skiing experience in the Sognefjord. Activity companies also offer avalanche courses or ice climbing courses.

The mountain sports festival in Sogndal has become the highlight of the winter for both locals and visitors.
