1. Island Hopping by the postal boat

Island Hopping to Solund, Bulandet, and Værlandet is a trip to the westernmost islands in Norway. Traveling by the local post boat you will get close to the unique scenery and the everyday life of the people living on the islands.

The postal boat "Stjernesund" departs from Hardbakke in Solund, about three hours from Bergen. The tour will start in the calm waters, and pass by narrow creeks and the many beautiful small islands. The crew on the boat will also guide. The tour brings you close to the nature and animal life in the area, and you might even spot a porpoise, a bearded seal or sea eagle! Functioning as a local mailman and transportation, the postal boat determines it stops based on local passengers and mail.

2. Kayaking

Solund is an eldorado for kayaking. With thousands of islands, islets, and skerries in beautiful, untouched nature, Solund gives you some of the best kayak experiences Norway has to offer. Join in on a coastal paddle tour from Hardbakke. Experience the charming fishing villages and the unique geology from your kayak. Maybe you´ll see the sea eagle when you are out paddling.

3. Lighthouse safari to Utvær

Let yourself be captivated by Utvær´s history and the beautiful scenery far out at sea. Utvær is Norway´s westernmost island group with the country´s westernmost lighthouse. 4. Cycling in Solund

Bring your bike to Solund! The islands out here lie like pearls on a string, and their quiet roads make for lovely cycling and scenic experiences. Ferry and boats will take you from one Island to another, which is an experience in itself. Cycle north to the idyllic Liasundet. Walk to the sunset bench which is located by the main road. Here you can watch the sun set over the Lågøy fjord. From Hardbakke you can cycle to Daløy and take the charming ferry to Haldorsneset. From Haldorsneset you cycle south towards Nåra. Stop by Hjønnevåg and eat a delicious lunch at Havkroa. The café is open during summertime.

5. Pollatinden

Pollatinden is the second highest mountain in Solund and is often referred to as the Queen of the archipelago. Whether it is the fact that the mountain is the second highest mountain in the muncipality that is the origin of the queen's name, or that Queen Sonja has repeatedly climbed the mountain is not known.

The mountain rises 541 meters above sea level and offers fantastic views of the westernmost islands in Norway. The trip is moderately demanding with a steep climb to the top. The tour takes approx. 2-3 hours round trip.

6. Ramnenipa

From Ramnenipa at Hardbakke you get a fantastic view of the center, the coast and the Islands. A great hike for the whole family. The trails is marked with green granding and are suitable for both children and adults. The most used road is from the footballcourt at Hardbakke. From the grocery store, you will walk up through Storehaugen and up to the football court. Walk along the football court. You will find a marked path at the end of the court that will take you up to the top. The hike will take about 1,5 hour up and down. You can also walk up and down from the north side.

7. Ytre Sula

Ytre Sula is the most remote part of Solund. Right outside you will find the rough Straumsfjord, and further out you will find the Island communities Husøy, Nautøy, Indrevær and Utvær. In Ytre Sula you will find small, idyllic communities as Kolgrov, Straumen, Hjønnevåg, Ytrøygrend, Kverhella, Trovåg and Nåra.

In Ytre Sula you can stay at Solund Fisherman´s cabin, and enjoy good food at Havkroa during the summer. You will also find a grocery shop at Nåra.

8. Sognesjøhytta day trip cabin

The day tour cabin in Solund is called Sognesjøhytta and is located south of Hardbakke, near Hopsosen. Here you have a great view of Sognesjøen. The cabin is equipped with books written in Norwegian, a fireplace, and electricity. There is also an outdoor toilet available nearby. Remember to bring your own wood if you want to light the fireplace. It is not possible to spend the night in the cabin.

The hike to Sognesjøhytta takes about 40 minutes in normal walking. If you go from Solund centre, you have to count around 1 hour on the hike.

9. Wild Sheep Safari and physical activities in Draumeparken

Combine physical activities, social games, and outdoor life. At Solund sports park you will find a nice football field and a playground for kids. Around the sports park, you will find an 18-course frisbee golf court. Frisbeegolf is a popular activity, and in Solund you will find one of Norway's most popular court. 10. Fishing

Surrounded by open sea and fjords in Norway´s most beautiful archipelago, you will have great condition for fishing, all year. Here you can fish for mackerel, pollock, cod, haddock, ling, crabs, and crayfish. If you throw the line deep enough, you can also catch halibut or sole on the hook. There are several places where you can rent boats.
