The history of Berentsens Brygghus & Distillery begins with a bearded sailing ship captain who had a plan
Many decades later, the company has evolved from bottling 5,000 bottles a year to 5,000 in 15 minutes.
A plan for retirement after he sold his last ship
In the 19th century, it was common to retire at the age of 50, so many good years as a beverage producer lay at Wilhelm Berentsen's feet. The plan was simple: inspired by his travels on the seven seas and to all the continents and corners of the world, he would create exciting and delicious soft drinks. He established Egersunds Mineralvandfabrik in 1895, today best known as Berentsens Brygghus & Distillery.
From coffee roasting to soft drinks
It started small, with a coffee roaster and modest production equipment to make soft drinks. For a small producer, the goal was ambitious enough: 5,000 bottles a year. It didn't take long for production capacity to peak, and new equipment and premises were needed.
Today, Berentsens Brygghus & Distillery offers a range of products and services!
