Here you'll get an incredible view at 224 metres above Aksdal and the surrounding area. At the top of Alvanuten you'll also find a day hut.


How long is the hike?

The hike is about 1.5 km and 179 metres in height, and takes around an hour in total. Remember to set aside time to enjoy the view and something to eat at the top, as well as visiting the day hut.


Is the trip to Alvanuten child-friendly?

This is a family-friendly tour.


Tour description

You start the hike from Tysværtunet / Aksdal Centre. From the car park, follow Aksdalsvegen, then turn left and follow Alvanutvegen to the end of the road. From here, the hike follows a clearly visible and signposted path to the top.


Parking and charging station for electric cars

You park at the starting point of the hike, which is Tysværtunet / Aksdal Senter. Parking is free of charge. If you need to charge your car while you're on the hike, you'll find several charging stations here too.


What should I wear on this trip?

Dress for the weather and wear good shoes when you set off on this trip. Also, remember that even if it's warm when you're walking, it's a good idea to wear a jacket when you're taking a break at the top.


Can I do this hike all year round?

This hike can be done all year round, but be aware that it can be somewhat slippery in winter.


Are there toilets on Alvanuten?

There are no toilets on Alvanuten, so you will need to use the toilets at Tysværtunet or Aksdal Centre before or after the hike.
