About the Tour:
In the dramatic landscape of Allmannajuvet, Swiss architect Peter Zumthor has created something truly special – a blend of aesthetics, functionality, and respect for early industrial history. As part of Norway's National Tourist Routes, Allmannajuvet is not just a stop but an experience where architecture and nature meet in unique harmony.
Zumthor's philosophy is simple: architecture should not steal attention but rather enhance the essence of the place. Here, he has elevated the old mining history and landscape to new heights with buildings that blend seamlessly into their surroundings. The project consists of four structures: the service building, the café, the gallery, and the helmet shed – all characterized by precision, sustainable materials, and uncompromising aesthetics.
Allmannajuvet is a place where mining history meets modern architecture, and each structure pays tribute to nature and the miners who worked here. Through Zumthor's work, this landscape has gained a new dimension – a place for reflection, discovery, and inspiration.
The guided tour includes visits to and around the site’s buildings, as well as a short walk along the mining trail. The tour lasts 60-90 minutes and focuses on the architecture.
